So who is Michael Jones?

Michael Jones is the creator of The Affiliate Code. I never heard about him before I bumped in his other product that sold many copies on clickbank – The ClickBank Code

I must say that the Clickbank Code was a shitty product (With all do respect). It was a cheap copy of a different product called Commission Blueprint.(Commission Blueprint came out with an updated version called Commission Blue Print 2.0). Both of them talked about affiliate marketing , how to pick a winner product, How to create a profitable Adwords campaign, how to maintain it and how to scale it. The ClickBank Code.

Now don’t get me wrong. Im not saying that that the ClickBank code did a horrible job in delivering the information, its just that the two products were identical, and if you were to choose one of them I would defintley say, go with commission blueprint. The only thing that the Clickbank Code was better then the other, is the Excel spread shit that Micheal Jones presenting in his videos.

This spread shit basically calculates the conversion rates, amount of traffic, its cost and some other factors and gives you an amazing overview of your Adwords campaign. (I couldn’t find this spreadsheet downlodable file in the clicknbank code, so I made my own from what I saw in the videos). (In The Affiliate Code, Micheal Jones uses the same spread shit in one of the first videos).

So that was the situation back then, now Micheal Jones made a smart move, I have to say, and released The Affiliate Code. What I liked the most about the affiliate code is not the good information about how to pick a winner , how to pick your niche or how to build your website. I liked when Micheal Speaks about how to build your list.

This is a subject that the most “How To Make Money Online Courses” never talk about.
Michael explains that when a customer comes to a sales page or some other offer page, most likely that the customer will not buy the product. He explains that the average conversion rate in the internet today is around 1%. That means that only 1 visitor out of 100 visitors that comes to the offer page will buy the product.

So what with all the other 99 visitors?

When you drive traffic to a squeeze page, sale page, offer page, through PPC (Pay Per Click), you pay for every visitor that comes to the website. So if only 1 person buy out of 100 that means that the money you spent on the other 99 persons is gone! And will never come back.

And that is ,my friend, the biggest mistake of affiliates , product owners, and anyone that is trying to market anything online. One way to get around this problem is to Build your list. Building your list may sounds hard and time consuming , no wonder why most marketers don’t bother building a list. You may think that you need to know some programming or web building but none of this is needed.

One of the best aspects of The Affiliate Code Is where Michael Break down the process and clearly explain how anyone can do it. Building your list can save you a lot of money and can determine if you will be successful online or not. (of course, this is not the only thing, it is only one by many).

Imagine that you will be able to stay in touch with the rest of the 99 visitors that did not buy the product , but interested in your niche, and market them different products and offer them different offers and increase your conversion rate to the roofs.

Another thing I liked about the affiliate code, when Michael Speaks about How To Drive Free Traffic to your site. He is not only talks about PPC advertising, but also about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – this is the other way to drive traffic to your site, the only different between SEO and PPC is that you do not have to pay for the traffic. (Yes quite a big difference).

SEO is basically making your site to rank as higher as you can in the Search Engine Page Result on Google (or any other search engine) for a given keyword. For example, if you have a site about golf, then SEO is the craft behind how to make Google show your site first when someone types in the word “golf”. (Trust me it is not a simple task).

It gets better when Micheal Jones talks about the “Google Sandbox”. Look I have been around SEO for a while now, (about 3 years now), But still I didn’t know those stuff about Google Sandbox that Micheal is talking about in The Affiliate Code. This issue was new to me. And after I heard what Micheal had to say about the Google Sandbox I realized why many of my SEO efforts went down to waste.

To the ones of you who never heard about Google Sandbox: Google Sand box is a myth. No one really knows if it is exists or not. But some believe when Google suspect that a certain website is artificially built back links to itself by its owner or associates, Google will send the site to the Sandbox, where he will be stuck in the Search Results. So if the site ranked number 23rd for the search term “golf” in Google.

It will stay there no matter how many back links the site will have.
I can go on and on about how PPC and SEO covered in The Affiliate Code product, but

I think that I gave enough for now. (and I’m tired of writing).
If you liked this post then for sure you will like the affiliate code.

Here is my link to you of the Affiliate Code.

Problems With Adwords, And How To Solve Them.

Affiliate marketing is all a numbers game. If we now can assume that the average conversion rate is 1%, then all I have to do now is to calculate the odds. I will get as much visitors as I can through my affiliate link, and make money.

Since SEO takes some time to implement and might be a little complicated, I will create a new campaign around my product that I need to promote and start making money immediately.

That what I though when I started affiliate marketing, but then I encountered a few problems.

I really wanted to promote a product that was related to eBay. Had no idea what SEO was back then, so I went straight to Google Adwords. So I was very happy with myself as I thought that I found the way to quit my job and become a super affiliate within days. I singed up with clickbank.com (the product was a Clickbank product) I copied my affiliate code that they gave me, (this affiliate code included my affiliate ID) and was ready to start my campaign.

I adjusted the campaign setting, wrote 2-3 text ads that’s included the keywords I wanted to target, and added some relevant keywords, that were not highly competitive like the keyword eBay. So after I planted my affiliate code in the text ads, I sat back, relaxed and waited that Google will start to do its job, getting me some bloody traffic.

After a few hours or so when I went to see if my campaigns are running, I saw that they were not. Google said that it is impossible to have 2 different advertisers that are linking to same page!!! If it happens, Google will pick the best performing ad to show. So I guess someone was performing better then me.

So at first I tried to out rank this other guy who was better than me, but I ended up spending more and more money, Google kept asking for more. I just could not do it. I had to think of a way to overcome this problem. So I created a landing page. My ads from ad word took the traffic to my unique landing page first, there you could find links to the affiliate product page, (The links were of course my affiliate code links)

This way I had my own link, so I will be the only one who send visitors to it, unlike the URL of the affiliate product where probably tens of marketers are fighting for. By the way, making an Adwords campaign and sending the traffic directly to the website of the product, that you are trying to sell called, direct linking.

So I solved the problem! NOT!! When I was checking my campaign to see if everything is ok I saw that it was not running. Now the problem was my quality score, it was too low! Quality score is some kind of ranking made by Google that checks the relevancy of your keywords to your landing page. You need to have a landing page that will be high quality (according to Google Standards) and it should match the keyword that you are targeting.
But what is a high quality landing page according to Google standards?
I will try to answer this question in my next post, so stay updated!

Conversion rate?

So what is conversion rate in the affiliate world?

Conversion rate is in other words your sales rate. How many visitors you managed to Convert to buyers?. As many visitors are converting to buyers in your website, the higher conversion rate you will have. So what is considered to be a good conversion rate? In the affiliate world the average of the conversion rate is 1%. That means that most of the web sites converting one visitor out of hundred, into one sale. This fact is very important to affiliates when they want to calculate the profitability of an affiliate product.

For example: if you are trying to sell a weight loss product online, and let’s say you will get $40 every time you make a sale.(commission = $40) Now, you actually have no idea what is the conversion rate of this site, but let’s assume it looks very good. So you estimate that the conversion rate of this site is at least 1% if not more. (honestly if a site has a conversion rate, which is lower than 1%, don’t even bother with it). That means that for every 100 people you will refer to your site with your affiliate code, you will get $40.

That’s great! But how much it will
cost you to refer 100 people?.

Well you do not know yet! What you know is that if you were to pay $0.40 every time you refer a visit to your weight loss website, you will break even!. Because: 100(visits) x $0.40 = $40. And $40 my friend is exactly the commission you will get for every sale. You see the beauty of this? so now you know that your break even Cost Per Click is $0.40. if you will be able to get 100 people to this site with a lower CPC you will make a profit.

So what you should do now is go to Google Adwords, and start a new campaign. It does not have to be fancy or complicated. Make it simple with two different text ads, make the settings to target people from US , Canada and UK, make sure you make ad groups to the keywords you have picked and so on. But the golden piece of info that you need to implement is not paying Google more than $0.40 cents.

If you start out it is ok to spend a little more than that, just to see that the product has at least 1% conversions, but always remember that in order to profit from this campaign , you will have to find the key words that cost you less than $0.40 cents a click.

Notes: if you have no idea how to start an adwords campaing or want a little more tips, I promise I will write more about it.

FYI: There are 2 main ways driving traffic to a site. 1st called CPC – Cost Per Click,(Such as : adwords, Yahoo and msn also have PCP advertising). 2nd called SEO – Search Engine Optimization. The big advantage of SEO is once you get the traffic you don’t have to pay for it!, however doing SEO takes a little bit of skills and takes time, unlike paid advertising. I will write more about CPC and SEO in my other posts , but for now , take it easy

Affiliate Marketing

What is affiliate marketing?

To answer this question we need to understand first what is an affiliate? Affiliate is someone (could be anyone with a computer and internet access) that helps the product owner increase sales. For every sale that the affiliate made, he gets a commission! It is very similar to a salesman that works for a big company that gets commissions for his sales. So basically the affiliates model is not new, it exist in the business world for a long time.

How high is the commission?

Well it depends. Usually when the price of the product is higher than the commission is higher, but commission can be affected by the management expenses. If the costs are high, the commission will be low. That is why the commissions on electronic products like eBooks, soft wares and tutorials are higher. The flowing expenses on these kind of products are very low. The owner have to spend money on hosting them and that’s is. These kind of products can be downloaded from anywhere in the world. Commissions on electronic products can get as high as 75%. So if a software cots $100 , then you can make $75 for every sale that you make.

Sounds nice but how can I join to one of these affiliates programs?

Well you have a few options. First, if you have something that you know about or just prefer to sale, go to google and type ‘keyword’ affiliates programs in the search. (keyword = the product that you want to sale). If you have no idea where to start I recommend you start in 2 places number one is a website called clickbank.com. And the other is cj.com (AKA commission junction). The difference between the two is that clickbank.com sales electronic products (video tutorials, ebooks, softwares, etc.) while CJ sales real products (guitars, toys, shoes, etc.) and electronic products. But for electronic products it is recommended you go to clickbank.com.

So once you find something that you want to try to sale, you fill up a form, in clickbank.com and CJ.com you sing up to the website once, and you get your nickname and everything. You don’t need to supply any bank account details if you dint want to, billing address is enough. So after you joined to one of these websites and filled out a form with you name, last name , email address etc, and billing address you are ready to start. You can choose how you want to be paid, if by PayPal , sent checks once every 2 weeks or wire transfers. Location is not a problem, these sites works with people all around the world. So you can sit in Asia, and get commissions from products you sell to people in America by mailed checks.

How would the affiliate sites will know that the sales that im making are really mine or not someone else’s?

you see, these sites generate a unique code once you apply. This code is you individual code. Affiliate sites like clickbank.com attaché this code to a link that you get from them. This is your affiliate link. As an affiliate, you need to send people through your affiliate link if you want to get paid. So for example if a visitor comes to your website and read about the product that you are recommending, but when he wants to get to the products website and he types the address in his browser, for example, and not going through your link, you will not get paid!

You need to make sure that visitors click on your affiliate link , in order for you to get paid. Now watch this, your visitors do not have to know that the link that takes them to the product site, is your affiliate link. It is best if they do not know about it at all. Some people do not like the fact that someone is getting paid, just because he made them buy something.
